There’s nothing quite as handy as a truck box for storing that extra stuff you need to carry but don’t want stuffed into the already-tiny cab area. But sometimes the normal front-positioned box gets in the way of, say, a dirt-bike mount — or anything else long enough to require the entire bed length. But fear not: There are other options, like this wheel-well box from Craftsman.
It’s powder-coated steel with stainless hinges, and it mounts behind your truck’s wheel well or in a van’s third-row passenger seat. As you can see, it features drawers that slide out the back. In my mind, that’s not quite as handy as the big-’ole open box you get with the front-mount type, but it might be perfect for smaller tools that kinda roll around in a bigger space. And despite the fact that it appears to stick up way above the bed in the picture, Craftsman says it’ll fit most pickups with bedliners, tonneau covers, and caps.
The only bad news is that it’s a bit pricey, clocking in at $208 — about the price of a shiny diamond-plate aluminum standard box.
