The Fourth Logrus
Player: Chris Lightfoot
"A thousand years ago, the so-called Logrus Masters, former dedicates of the Construct, purged it from their bodies and fled Reality to realms unknown. You really have to admire their pioneer spirit.
"The Construct was left weakened, but due to the timely intervention of House Candent, it was stabilized - or preserved, as the Construct even on a slow day is never really stable - as part of the New Universal Order. Where once was Logrus, there is now Construct, Pattern, Ygg, and Rose. Bloody upstart plants. For a hundred years, the Construct seethed and grew and finally decided it was time to cogitate.
"Okay, that suggests it couldn't cogitate before, so how did it have the will to decide? But I digress...
"The Construct extended a tendril into the healing vaults of House Candent, and there grew a body.
"A young man emerged; fair of face and red of hair. Maybe because so many Redheads had been reconstituted in House Candent. He was the first Logrus. The first Me.
"He didn't last long. There was a thing with Roses, and not knowing when to avoid a fight. Live and learn. Or live, learn, die, and pass it on...
"The second Logrus was dark as coal with a wit as sharp as a razor. After decades of good deeds and better adventures, he too lost his form. This time while saving House Candent from an eruption of Primal Chaos from the Shadow Cloud that surrounds the Construct. That's what comes of planting a Power in your back yard. Durus and Thomas, take note.
"The third Logrus preferred female form, and was more cool and calculating. Well, when you grade on a curve. But this outward diffidence hid a deep interest in her opposite number. The third me should have paid more attention to history - Sakura and Swayvil mixed like fire and kerosene-soaked bunnies. The third me didn't return from Amber.
"I am the fourth Logrus. Yes, this form is only a few hundred years old, but I like to think I am a bit tempered by previous experience. Without being as fuddy-duddy as most of those beings who have been around for millenia, so worried about maintaining their own status quo. Sure, there are dangers out there, but also wonders.
"If I stayed home, I'd miss all the fun!"
Meiko of Amatera's Enduring Fire
Player: Chris Champlin
Height: 5'4" / Weight: 130lbs
Hair: Black / Eyes: Brown
Actual Age: 17
DESCRIPTION: Meiko is a slight, petite woman that knows her way around a battlefield, in power armor or out. Her life is that of a domestic slave, combat medic, and battlefield devil. She's a dark-haired beauty, cultured to entertain, patch together broken bodies, or break them herself. She has a distinctive tattoo on her right cheek, the stylized symbol for fire (her owner's mark, "House of Amatera's Enduring Fire") done in a shifting light-emitting ink that makes it appear as fire, and a complicated pattern of dashed concentric circles that serve as an identification mark (bar-code, a la slave). Meiko is also relatively new to the idea of her heritage as an Amberite.
Clothing: In battle, dressed in combat armor, powered or not depending on the mission. In the master's house, dressed formally in gowns to fit the planet and seasonal patterns. Once free? Who knows... depends on whether she's feeling pretty or feeling dangerous.
Personal Symbol: Red Salamander Coiled in a Flame
Jessica Asher
Player: Andi
When she was able to leave her homeworld, Jessica decided to go to Earth and socialize herself with the Amberites there (mainly Florimel and to some extent Llewella), and fortify Earth as a safe haven for all beings of power to have a neutral ground to meet and negotiate. She's not allowed to use the power of the Roses on the people, but she certainly can use them to make sure no one else messes with the Earth, either. She's also enjoying a successful acting career, currently appearing on HBO's titillating drama series "Prized Flames".
Gizette, Lady Candent
Player: Leslie Lightfoot
As far enigmatic beings from before the dawn of time go, Lady Candent is a dotty Aunt. Never the brightest or most focused of her siblings, Gizette has settled down to being not the brightest or most focused of Great Ladies. Her youthful ebullience has been somewhat tempered by the millennia into a playful curiosity. She doesn’t travel as much or as fast as she once did, though she is still a dab hand at getting around.
Nowadays, she spends most of her time at House Candent where she has become quite the aficionado of. . . unique beings. The universal turmoil that marked the end of the Third Rose War gave Gizette a new direction. House Candent, always a neutral ground, became more of a refuge and shelter for those displaced by the titanic struggles of Gizette’s kin. And Gizette welcomed them all – Lords of Chaos, Amberites, Sakurites, and refugees from both the Rose Lands and the Ygg shadows. For anyone who wished, there was a place to go.
Over the last 1000 years, House Candent has grown to a sprawling, patchwork of cultures and peoples as Gizette and Bleys, Lord Candent, pieced together their own place in the universe. House Candent is not always peaceful within itself (there was that unfortunate incident with the Primal Chaos and the Century of Spats) but overall the House is thriving in its diversity.
However, despite Lord and Lady Candent’s overall tolerance, there is a notable exception to Candent’s largesse. Lady Candent has no use for The Rose and is decidedly cool toward Rose Practitioners. She does not engage in open hostilities but is known to be intolerant of Rose usage within the demesnes of Candent. And any attempts to ‘seed’ The Rose within Candent’s grounds will be met with extreme reactions in very short order.
Some beings of note and/or regular guests at the House include:
General Slorg - A veteran of the Third Rose War, General Slorg is a battleslug of incredible acumen. Currently head of security for House Candent, he and Clan Slorg provide a fierce and flexible defense of the House proper.
Lord Ambrose - A disaffected former Lord of Chaos, Ambrose is a regular guest valued for his bon mots and good humor. Until such time as he is thrown out yet again usually for some uncomfortable prank he’s gotten up to with Prince Random.
Prince Random – No. He can’t have anymore psilocybe. ‘Nuff said.
The Fiettes – A trio of spooky blind girls who haunt the hallways of the House proper, no one is really sure where the Fiettes came from. Or exactly what they are. It is known, however, that their high warbling singing seems to attract giant insects.
The Construct - Formerly known as the Logrus, the Construct came near to destruction during the Third Rose War and was nursed back to health within the confines of House Candent. A little over a century later, the Construct was mature enough to move out on its own and established its own domicile in a nearby Shadow.
InAMinute? - The current majordomo of House Candent,
InAMinute? is an incorporeal being whom most humans cannot perceive. However, he is so very efficient at his tasks and there is some speculation as to whether
InAMinute? is a singular entity or not.
Blethfluggelhomme - Felt more than seen, Blethfluggelhomme is a major demon dwelling within some of the darker, more twisted reaches of Candent. While Blethfluggelhomme is under strict instructions not to eat anyone without notifying the Lord or Lady first, disappearances within the twisting labyrinthine halls of Candent are not unheard of.
Random
Player: Ghen-ki
No one was really expecting him to show up at the doors to House Candent, proclaiming himself a 'changed man'. After all, everyone had assumed that he was still somewhere in the lower levels maintaining a constant hallucinogenic, mind-altering, and almost certainly fatal to any mortal being... buzz. When did he leave? How long was he gone? The answer to both, of course, was a resounding shrug followed by a concerned Lady Candent scrolling several centuries back through the house security logs. Certainly, he did not look all that different. Well, he was obviously healthier. Hard to stay in shape when one never need move from his intravenously fed drug domicile pod in the basement, after all. Otherwise he seemed the same. Same nose, mannerisms, and colors. Oh wait, did he just turn down an offered drink of Chaosian Absinthe, rumored to be made by demons from demons and for demons? No, he just wanted it prepared Bohemian style.
Perhaps the only visible change was that he did not cause a ruckus. Was it a slight twinge of moderation he picked up over the course of millennia? Perhaps it was about time. Actually, no perhaps about it.
...then he challenged the representative of Yggdrasil to card game for his trump deck and everybody sighed. And his wager? Well it was only fitting that he put it up for collateral since he had won it the same way. That was what he had said before taking out that small familiar red jewel. After he had left, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that he hadn't come back to resume his old ways. He was there to make a statement, and that statement was that he was involved with what was to come. Perhaps he was, in fact, a changed man.
